Resort Review: Mangala Resort & Spa, Gambang, Pahang

I have been writing so much about my running journey, I guess sometimes it is worthwhile to write about something else, just to give the blog some colour. :)

After the recent Annual Kuantan Half Marathon, we spend a day pampering ourselves at the newly opened resort in Gambang, Kuantan. It is called Mangala Resort & Spa. It is located in Gambang, Pahang. I got to know this resort from a friend of mine, who is a famous blogger, Rebecca Saw. Her review was good enough to persuade me to try out this new resort. Plus the hotel rental fee is reasonable given the facilities. From my conversation with the Resort staff, I got to know that this resort was opened back in January 2016. Currently there is only 31 units and they intend to build more. Room is spacious and there is a special outdoor bath tub.

The bathroom is spacious..both sides have mirrors.. well you know what to do.. :)

Walkway that leads to Rio Olympics.. I mean the Gym..

The fancy swimming pool.. water is 1.2 metre deep.. Kids have their own dipping pool

Some water deco greeting you at the reception..

The outdoor bathtub.. oh ya.. the fish is not included..it belongs to the kids.

The resort is built on a formerly Palm Oil farm. It is sizeable enough that you have to move around the are using a buggy. Just call them and they will pick you up in around 5-8 minutes.

It is all nice until night time where we were attacked by a group of "pepatung".The trick is to switch off your bathroom lights and turn on the outside light so they will start to move outside and hang around the outside light. Despite all these, we still enjoy our trip and had a relaxing moment. But I do think they can have more activities for us to do here other than canoeing (not suitable for kids), horse-riding and bicycling. Perhaps a mini pitch and putt and water slides?

Annual Kuantan Half Marathon 2016 medal.. they need to order from Medal Depot so that they can have better design and materials..

Finding food during lunch time is not difficult as there are many places to go here at Gambang. My favourite is NASI KUKUS MY MAMA. It is styled after a fastfood restaurant. It has been reviewed positively my TV3's Jalan Jalan Cari Makan (JJCM) programme. Main menu, is of course nasi kukus. You have ayam berempah, ayam kicap, ayam masak merah or daging kerutup to choose from to go with the nasi kukus. I picked ayam berempah and the chicken was crispy and full of "rempah" goodness.

How it looks like on our table..

Yummy sauces..

Time to tuck in..

Ayam masak merah..

Ayam berempah baby..

All in red..

Interested to go there.. here is the address..

Really enjoyed my stay in Kuantan & Gambang. It was quite an experience.. One thing for sure, I will not participate anymore in Kuantan Half Marathon. The last 5-6km of the route was not safe to my standards. There were no proper safety cones to protect runners from the fast cars. Runners had to run on the emergency lanes which at times was too small to fit even one runner through and crazy enough there were many main road crosses and I had to look left and right myself to ensure it was safe to cross the road. The were only a few staff on duty and the cars sometimes did not follow their flag down or direction.
